The Journal of Nutrition reports a report of 15 healthy individuals who ate 5 meals with comparable amounts of protein, carbohydrates and unwanted fat. Two meals consisted of bread only. Three foods consisted of almonds, bread, parboiled rice, and instant mashed potatoes. Blood samples taken after every meal showed degrees of blood sugar and insulin had been lower following the almond meal, and levels of defensive antioxidants increased. This study demonstrates the powerful anti-aging aftereffect of almonds as well as their ability to ward off diabetes. The even more almonds eaten as part of a meal, the lower would be the glycemic index of that meal, and small the rise in blood sugar produced by that meal.Parents who think a child has ADHD should consult their doctor or pediatrician, Dr. Tiffany Farchione, a child psychiatrist at the FDA, said in the news headlines release. There are two types of medications approved by the FDA to take care of children with ADHD: stimulants and non-stimulants. Behavioral therapy can benefit children with ADHD. Parents should contact their child’s college and community support groups for information and advice on how best to cope with a child’s ADHD-related behavior. ‘It’s helpful to engage with the different folks who are involved with a child’s existence when managing the disorder,’ Farchione said in the news release. Children aren’t the only ones coping with ADHD, the FDA experts added. Adults can have the disorder, too. About 4 % of American adults are believed to have ADHD, the FDA said.
